Casey Langel — Joe’s closest friend

Joe’s closest friend and trusted sounding board

A supporting role with a striking emotional reversal: the man who makes everyone comfortable is left publicly exposed.

Casey knows Joe well enough to tease him, challenge him and hear what lies beneath the argument. Their friendship has an easy comic rhythm. At Casey’s own birthday dinner, a shared confidence turns him into the target of Joe’s anger. His wife and children are watching. The man accustomed to finding the joke has to decide how to absorb a wound he did not expect.

Performance opportunity
The actor builds the affection that makes the rupture hurt. Relaxed banter and physical ease establish years of trust; the dinner then asks for embarrassment, restraint and disbelief within the same beat. Protecting his dignity becomes an active struggle. The miniature Liberty Bell Joe later leaves at the door offers a private moment of recognition with little verbal cover. This is a rich opportunity for an actor with comic instincts to reveal dramatic depth through the sudden absence of a joke.

Signature scenes The stolen-car conversation; the birthday rebuke; the Liberty Bell apology.
